Bill O’Reilly recently alluded to the idea of “quality people, quality life.” While I don’t recall his exact quote, the idea of it resonated.

As you go through life, you interact with people every day. And, like it or not, for good or for bad, those you associate with WILL influence you.

You have to purposely choose your crowd.

Now I’m not saying you should become pompous because the fact is, I have no respect for those who think they are better than anyone else. And by all means if someone needs help, help them. But the fact is you must purposely associate with those who build and not those who tear down…those with strong qualities of life.

‘Don’t believe me? Spend one morning with a negative, bitter, complaining person and then tell me how your afternoon goes.

Here’s an example in real life. My friend, Mike Harbour, and I partnered up on two things this year:  business accountability and the Ignite Your Leadership Strengths series. Today, we’re discussing the importance of collaboration, and I can tell you firsthand that collaborating with Mike has been a very positive experience for me. Mike is goal-focused, determined, and positive in the face of adversity…just the kind of person we all need in our lives.

Look around you. Who do you see? Ask yourself a few questions:

  • Are you motivated by your friends…or demotivated?
  • Do they help you find solutions…or join you in your pity party?
  • Do they encourage…or criticize?
  • Do they have a victor…or victim mentality?
  • Do they speak caring truth into your life…or allow you to do things they know are not best for you?
  • Do they share your joys and push you to go higher…or try to pull you down to their level?

Now look in the mirror. Time for the hard question:

What kind of friend are YOU?

Join me and my quality friend, Mike Harbour, for the call today at 1 pm ET.  We’ll help you set the stage for a great afternoon!
